Texas is in my heart. Yes I’m a Louisiana girl by birth and wouldn’t change it for anything but when you love Texas you love it big. It gets in your heart like grit in your teeth and before you know it it’s just part of who you are. Me and my family moved to Texas from California when I was in first grade, so I have stomped around this area for awhile now and I still haven’t seen half of it. Packing up to head to Big Bend today I’m reminded of just how large and diverse this state of ours is. Where I live is close to Louisiana so we have a strange mix of Cajun/Cowboy culture here. (It makes for amazing food choices!) Where my parents live is close to Arkansas border and they have a totally different feel. Go one hour to Houston and you have a booming big city with anything you can imagine. Spend a few hours on I-10 and you can hit white sand beaches on South Padre Island. Head towards Guadalupe Mountains, Culberson County,Texas and your looking at

Prominence 3,028 feet (923 meters) and some pretty nice mountains. We have an observatory that rivals any in the US. McDonald observatory. If that’s not enough the folks are friendly, the foods good, our crime rates are low, we run a surplus not a deficit for state spending and everyone rides a horse!
